Sophie is very happy, because today she is going to visit her Uncle Tom. Uncle Tom lives on a nice farm, outside of town. To get there Sophie has to travel for a while, but nothing gets her down. With lots of enthusiasm she prepares a delicious snack for her uncle and begins her journey to the farm, which is known as Uncle Tom’s Farm. As soon as she arrives at the farm, Sophie admires the view and is very excited by everything she sees, because she lives in the city, but here she is surrounded by so many animals and flowers … it makes her feel so happy. Energetically, she knocks on the door, but nobody answers. She knocks again, but again, there is no answer. "I hope nothing bad has happened to Uncle Tom?" She thinks. Very worried and a little scared she opens the door and enters the house. Uncle Tom was fine, nothing bad had happened to him, Sophie found a letter explaining that he had simply gone to the city.
So Sophie will have to take care of herself and do everything that Uncle Tom has said, that is, all the jobs that have to be done on the farm every day. So, as bold as brass, Sophie gets to work, but for this she needs some help, since there are a lot of jobs to do on the farm and they are very tiring. She starts by watering the flowers, then continues by feeding the pigs, then she cleaning the sheep, she milks the cow and plays with the ducks. And what better way to do all these jobs than to do them all while singing? When she finishes she is very tired, but there is still one more job: she has to collect the eggs from the hens, and this has to be done very carefully because the eggs are very fragile and the hens get very nervous.
Once she at the chicken coop, Sophie picks up a large basket and starts collecting the eggs, one by one. One of them starts to hatch, and a small baby appears, this reminds Sophie of the famous story of “The Ugly Duckling”. Then she continues with her task of collecting the eggs, but what a surprise she gets! Some of the eggs are much larger than normal, and not only that ... they are very colorful and very beautiful. Some have painted circles, others have diamonds, and there are a thousand and one other different shapes. Sophie is shocked, she does not understand what is going on. And that's when she hears a strange sound. She is very frightened, could there be a dangerous animal on the farm that she does not know about?
She hears the sound again, which scares Sophie so much more that she screams, fearing the worst. She discovers that, in fact, it is no more than a little bunny who is actually more frightened than she is. Sophie is so relieved, but to her great surprise! The bunny starts talking to her. The bunny tells Sophie that she is not an ordinary animal, that is to say, she is not just simply a rabbit; she is a magical Easter Bunny, called Bunny. "An Easter Bunny?" Asks Sophie. Yes, I am the bunny in charge of painting the hens' eggs, I decorate them with great care and then I distribute them in all the gardens for the children to find. It is a very nice, but a very hard job because it requires a lot of work throughout the year so that everything is prepared for Easter. Sophie is determined to help Bunny and to help prepare for the wonderful feast of Easter. But it is not a simple task, you have to know the colors very well, as well as the shapes, but above all, to know how to paint very well. What better way to do it though than to do it with help!
But Bunny tells Sophie that he has a big problem: the birds steal the eggs that he has painted and he cannot finish his job. That’s why Sophie dresses up as a scarecrow with a hat and jacket, and tries to scare away the birds. But when she starts, a big owl appears - the leader of the birds - he explains to Sophie that the reason the birds steal the Easter eggs is because they
are hungry, so Sophie has an idea: she gives them the food from her basket and they promise to leave the eggs in the garden. Bunny is really happy with this, and he tells Sophie that they are now good friends. But everything comes an end, and it is time for Sophie to go home. She remembers everything that has happened to her on uncle Tom´s farm and all the work she has done and all the animals she has helped, especially Bunny.
Sophie está muy contenta, porque hoy va a visitar a su tío Tom. El tío Tom vive en una bonita granja, fuera de la ciudad. Para llegar hasta allí Sophie tiene que viajar un buen rato, pero nada quiebra su voluntad. Con mucho ánimo prepara una suculenta merienda para su tío e inicia el viaje rumbo a la granja, conocida como la Granja del Tío Tom. Una vez en la granja, Sophie admira el paisaje y está emocionada por todo lo que le rodea, puesto que ella vive en la ciudad y verse rodeada de tanto animales, flores… la hace sentirse feliz. Muy decidida llama a la puerta, pero nadie responde. Vuelve a llamar, pero ocurre lo mismo. “¿Le habrá ocurrido algo al tío Tom?” –piensa ella. Un tanto asustada abre y entra a la granja. En verdad al tío Tom no le ha ocurrido nada malo, sino simplemente ha tenido que ir a la ciudad, y para que Sophie lo sepa le deja escrita la siguiente carta.
Así que Sophie tendrá que encargarse ella sola de hacer todo lo que el tío Tom le pide, es decir, de todas las tareas que hay que hacer día a día. Así que, ni corta ni perezosa, Sophie se pone manos a la obra, pero para ello necesita de ayuda, puesto que las faenas de la granja son muchas y muy agotadoras. Empieza regando las flores, para continuar dando de comer a los cerdos, limpiando las ovejas, muñendo la vaca y jugando con los patos. Y ¿qué mejor que hacer todas estas tareas cantando? Cuando acaba está muy cansada, y todavía queda un trabajo más: recoger los huevos de las gallinas, para lo cual hay que ir con mucho cuidado porque los huevos son muy frágiles y las gallinas muy asustadizas.
Una vez en el gallinero, Sophie coge una gran cesta y empieza a recoger los huevos, uno a uno. Uno de ellos está eclosionando, y asoma un pequeño pollito, lo que le permite a Sophie contar el famoso cuento de “El Patito Feo”. Luego sigue con su tarea de recolectar los huevos, pero, ¡cuál es su sorpresa! Algunos huevos son más grandes de lo normal, y no sólo eso… son de colores variados y muy bonitos. Algunos llevan círculos pintados, otros rombos y los hay con mil y una formas. Sophie está alucinada, no entiende nada. Y es entonces cuando se escucha un extraño sonido. Ella se asusta, ¿puede que haya algún animal peligroso en la granja de la que ella no tiene noticia? El sonido vuelve a oírse, lo cual asusta todavía más a Sophie que grita temiendo lo peor. Pero descubre que, en realidad, no es más que un pequeño conejito que está más asustado que ella. Sophie respira aliviada, y ¡cuál es su sorpresa! cuando el conejito se pone a hablar con ella. El conejito le cuenta a Sophie que no es un animal común, es decir, no es simplemente un conejo, sino que es ni más ni menos que un mágico Conejo de Pascua, llamado Bunny. “¿Un Conejo de Pascua?” pregunta Sophie. Sí, un conejito encargado de pintar los huevos de las gallinas, decorarlos con mucho cuidado y luego repartirlos por los jardines para que los niños los encuentren. Una tarea muy bonita, pero muy costosa porque exige mucho trabajo durante todo el año para que en la Pascua todo esté preparado. Sophie está decidida a ayudar a Bunny en su trabajo y así colaborar con la maravillosa fiesta de la Pascua. Pero no es una tarea sencilla, hay que saber bien los colores, las formas, y sobretodo saber pintar muy bien. ¡Qué mejor para ello que contar con ayuda!
Pero el conejito le cuenta a Sophie que tiene un gran problema: los pájaros roban los huevos que él pinta y él no puede acabar su tarea. Por eso Sophie se viste de espantapájaros con un sombrero y una chaqueta, y trata de asustar inútilmente a los pájaros. Cuando se da por vencida, aparece un gran búho –el líder de los pájaros- que le explica a Sophie que si los pájaros roban los huevos de pascua es porque están hambrientos, así que a ella se le ocurre una idea: darles la comida que lleva en la cesta y así los huevos quedarán en el jardín. Bunny está francamente feliz con lo ocurrido, y por eso le dice a Sophie que ahora son grandes amigos. Pero todo llega a su fin, es hora de volver a casa. Así que Sophie recuerda todo lo que le ha sucedido en la granja del tío Tom y se despide de todos los animales, y especialmente del pequeño Bunny.
